| Description | Part of letter book of Pierce Joyce, merchant, containing copies of his outgoing letters to Messrs Musset and Sons, St. Valerys, [France]; John Blake; Thomas Carter, Augustus Meade; Messrs John Dickson and Son; Messrs Vigor, Stephens and Hill; John Cregg; Thomas Frank, Bristol; Martin Franch; Henry Taylor; Messrs T Neal and Leger Ta[snin]; and relating to trade in kelp, timber, coffee, pork, porter, tea and other items and the drawing of bills. In a letter dated 13 February 1778, he asks Henry Taylor to '...procure me a vessel of 3 to 400 tons burthen (sic) for two voyages, to take timber, first to Dronthon [Drontheim] in Norway ...' and then to Memel [Prussia]. In a letter to John Blake, dated 22 February 1778, he refers to his nephews Messrs Creagh of Limerick, who have 'agreed for a freight of beef for Whelan to Bordeaux ...'. In a letter to Augustus Meade, dated 24 February 1778, he refers to his continuance as agent to Lord Clanricarde [Henry, 12th Earl]. The first two pages are dated February 1777.
