| Description | These papers concern a case with James Hennessy over the lands of Ballymacmoy, parish of Monanimy, county Cork, inherited from Joseph Nagle, in particular the calculation of renewal fines. At first it appeared that fines were not paid when John Hennessy, one of the lives, died in February 1796 and another, Christopher Hennessy, in 1816. However, Pierce Creagh, agent, was able to show that the fines and interest had been paid up to date in 1810, when a new life was inserted. A case arose in 1818 relating to the renewal of the lease with James Hennessy, a lunatic. The case was still to be settled in 1831 and also involved Ballyduff, which Robert J ffrench held from the Hennessys [see also LE7/19(2)]. Papers relating to David Nagle, who died in 1800, are also included. |
