TitleLucan Papers
DescriptionThe Lucan Papers [P48] relate to a branch of the Bingham family, who acquired lands in County Mayo in the late 16th century. At the end of the 18th century the head of the family was given the title Earl of Lucan and these papers record some of the activities of members of the family during the 19th and 20th centuries, in particular those of the third and fifth Earls. Additional material, in the form of two accounts books [P49] relating to the fifth Earl, is described at the end of the listing of P48 [see page 176].
